THE HONOR OF LIVING IN DARK TIMES

by | Nov 25, 2020 | Christianity Today | 102 comments

Darkness hangs over Thanksgiving like never before. Millions of Christians will gather with family and friends over a feast that can be overshadowed by a nation in distress.  There is something defiant you can do that will take the oxygen out of Satan’s attacks. It is a confession that flips the script.
Try this: When it is time to give thanks…thank God that you were born for this time in history. It may be hard to believe, but I am asking you to tell God that it is an honor to be living in this moment in history.
I know. Pandemic, a nation bitterly divided, and election corrupted. Thank God He didn’t give this honor to someone else!
Paul said in Romans 5:3 “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Glory in tribulations?
What I am about to I tell you may be hard to believe.  Especially in these times that are dark, evil, angry and dangerous. There is no question that they are the most challenging days ever: in which to be married, have children, own a business, or lead a ministry.
Paul waged war for the Lord in the perilous times in which he lived, and he told Timothy to “fight the good fight.” A warrior shines best in the hottest battle. We must put on the armor of God, and learn to use the sword of the spirit.
Why should you learn to fight? Until you face the fact that you are locked in mortal combat, you will never stop being confused and you will never take adequate measures to arm yourself. Some even coddle the notion that if they remain a commonplace Christian, Satan will not attack them. But the warrior understands that it is the unarmed who are taken out first.
Rejoice in the honor of being born in these times! How can we do this?

First, it is an honor because of what you get to see God do.   These are times when you will witness the power of God working miracles and doing special things through special people.  He gives grace that is not available in other, less chaotic times.  It is in times of crisis that He grants extraordinary power, wisdom, and courage. A life of knowing God and serving God is available to you—a life that was not available to prior generations.  Daniel wrote about dangerous times: “…but the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits.” [Daniel 11:32b]
It is in the darkest times that the greatest glory rises.  Isaiah 60:1: “And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you and His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
It is God’s grand finale. It is the time when He will at last reveal the mystery of His work in the world, and He will release all the provisions He has been storing up.
Then there is the matchless honor of suffering shame for Christ.   Acts 5:41 says, “So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.”
Jesus said in Luke 6:22: “Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they excommunicate you, and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. 23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! Indeed, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same things to the prophets.”
You were born for this time.  It is not punishment, it is not an accident, and it is an honor—because there is a glorious plan!  There is a holy design, and God in His perfect timing has placed you here on earth right now. We might yearn for simpler times, but the rewards are much greater in this time in which we are living.
But there are consequences for not participating…
Let me take you back to another dangerous time, and urge you to embrace this, your hour of destiny.
Moses had sent out twelve men, one from each of the twelve tribes of Israel to do reconnaissance and then report back on the status of the land Jehovah promised to give them. They were at war, but only two of them were eager and ready to enter the land and fight to take it.
Here are the highlights of the story from the book of Numbers:
13:30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are. 33 There we saw the giants…and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight.”

14:1 So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. But Joshua and Caleb, tore their clothes; 7 and said: “The land we passed through is an exceedingly good land. 8 Since Jehovah delights in us, He will bring us into this land and give it to us. Only do not rebel against Jehovah, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and Jehovah is with us. Do not fear them.” 10Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. 30Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” 36 The men whom Moses sent to spy out the land and brought a bad report of the land 37died by the plague before Jehovah. 38 But Joshua and Caleb remained alive, of the (twelve) men who went to spy out the land.
The great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us and who are, at this very moment watching from the grandstands of heaven, would give almost anything to be in your shoes!  Jesus said, “I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.” [Luke 10:24].
Today you can terrify the enemy and glorify God by turning the tables. Instead of withdrawing out of fear and feeling like you are victims for being born in these times, like Joshua and Caleb, fully embrace this moment. See it as a great opportunity. Embrace your destiny!

Mechelle and I would like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

It is amazing, Mario, to see so many believers on the same page spiritually, and to see so many “forsaking all” to seek God with all of their hearts. So many times the very verses you share in these blogs are things that my wife and I have already been reading, and several times we had recently put out a Facebook post on the same subject!!! She and I studied the failure by unbelief to enter the promised land in depth exactly one year ago. We committed to God that we will not miss out on anything He wants to do in our lives because of any “giants” in the land. After also studying Haggai for 2 months, we adopted this motto for life and ministry, “The best is yet to come.” Although tested in this year of 2020, our faith in a God who is bigger than anything we will face remains strong! Holy Ghost flames still burn brightly in our souls! God bless you for your always timely words. Love and prayers to you, Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful, Brother. Murillo I just reviewed all the Scripture in The Book of Numbers that you just commented about aa few days ago and through the Holy Spirit, you conformed the same message I got. We must do battle for our Lord Put on all our armor and fight an enemy that looks like we cannot defeat! We can and will because God, Jehovah, is on our side. No weapon formed against us shall ptosper! I, too, am excited about these dark times. But are they really dark? In Psalm 139 Dark and Light are one in the same to God. I thank him , too, that I am part of these times when God will perform wonders and great miracles like never before in history. We must place all our trust in him and not in humanity and never fear! Amen, Brother Murillo! Happy Thanks Giving to you as well. Some day we will be feasting and praising God, in His Kingdom forever and ever! Amen! See you there, Brother Miurillo!

‘ The warrior understands that it is the unarmed who are taken out first’
The full truth is – ‘ The warrior understands that it is the unarmed who are taken out. ‘ This is because it is the Armor of God.

Have a great Thanksgiving! Yes such an appropriate post for these times. A time for standing strong in our faith as did Caleb and Joshua. Thank You!!

  11. Joel Maltsberger

Just wanted to say thank you for always speaking the truth and for not backing down from standing up for what is right (even when it’s not the most popular thing to do). I am always encouraged by your posts because they always encourage us to trust in God over the deception that has been loosed into this nation through that antichrist spirit that has even deceived many Christian leaders with a lot of influence. Thank you for choosing to use your platform for the glory of God. We will continue to pray and stand and believe and I know that we will see God’s purposes prevail in this nation. What an honor to be apart of what God is doing in such a time as this. God bless you. Happy thanksgiving.

Such a beautiful piece of wisdom, Mario! Thank you! I do believe being grateful for God’s goodness is one of the most important things we can do. Gratitude strengthens the ties between us and the Father and opens the portals of heaven for God’s goodness to work on this earth.
Is a human father going to shower gifts on a son (or daughter) who turns away with a litany of complaints? Yet there are people who complain and grumble and still expect that somehow they will get God’s blessings. I pray they will wake up! Gratitude is a form of humility, and we are told: “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” (Matt 5:5)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Mechelle!

Thank you, Mario! I am printing this out and will share it with the family before we enjoy our Thanksgiving meal, with both soberness and joy. Isaiah 60:1-3 is a veritable beacon of hope, a straightforward encouragement and exhortation for us, and a NOW Word. I have made the comment how we would all want to be overcomers, but how we wish we had nothing to overcome! The Lord has His hidden treasures, and some of them are in us! These treasures only come forth in the press of circumstance. We will look back and say, “Wow, I didn’t know I had it in me!” Indeed, we were born, AND GIFTED for such a time as this! A blessed Thanksgiving to you and Mechelle! With deep appreciation, Jennifer Dewar.

May we all be truly thankful in this wondrous hour.

Only those who have never gone through a tough battle and won would fall away so quickly. I am not one of those. I have seen the hand of God move and when it moves it is always good. Get into covenant with God. Make him your senior partner in everything you do in your life. Give him your firstfruits. Show him how much you love him and thank him for everything he has blessed you with. Today is the day we celebrate Thansgiving but we thank God daily for health, home and wealth. With God we can do all things. Without God we are lost. Happy Thanksgiving Mario and everyone who takes time to read my words. God bless.

Two quotes from two very courageous individuals who owned the moment and took action during tumultuous times in their respective nation’s history. Joan of Arc I’m not afraid I was born for this and Winston Churchill ” I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial… I thought I knew a good deal about it all, I was sure I should not fail.”

  51. bdk11

I thank God for giving you the same spirit that Joshua and Caleb had. Mario it is great to hear the truth in a world of falsehood. The Apostle Paul told us
    Romans 8:35 NASB
[35] Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine…
(37)But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
I agree 100% with your blog today. This is a time of thanksgiving and a time to make sure we are willing to do what God ask of us. We are not the sort to shrink back, but push on and allow God to use us to bring Glory to Him.

Mario, you have such a gift for putting into words the message that the Holy Spirit is giving His people in this hour yet we (at least I’m not) are not able to put His wisdom into such powerful and inspiring blogs. I thank God for His gift to you and thank you for your obedience to use it!
Your scripture quote, especially Nu.14: 9b really leapt out at me as I read today’s message:
“…their protection has departed from them, and Jehovah is with us. Do not fear…”
It was like today’s battle plan of prayer (as regarding the election mess) for God’s warriors – the protection these evildoers of fraud and theft has departed from them! And Jehovah is with us (not them)! That is so awesome!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Mechelle and family.

    • Wordforworld

      Yes! K. Prati! We agree:
Their protection has departed from them
      Jehovah is with us
      Fear NOT!”
They are taken in the snares they set for us
The LORD our God brought upon them their own iniquity; shall cut them off in their own wickedness, yea the LORD our God shall cut them off.
You SHALT take up this proverb agst the king of Babylon, & SAY , “how hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers.
We speak what LORD told us to speak
We SAY what LORD showed us to say

Thank you, Pastor Mario & your family, and thank you to everyone here. All of you are also a blessing. God truly has a Remnant who are faithful, strong in the Faith, and will never bow their knee to Baal.
Our glass is half full, NOT half empty. We are Calebs and Joshuas, Davids and Daniels, Ruths and Esthers.
I am so grateful for your unwavering adherence to truth and faithfulness. God is going to change America back to what we are supposed to be. The Enemy and his cohorts are in for a huge surprise.

Well said, Mario. I’m an Army Veteran, and still carry the courage to defend my country, let alone my service to the lord. Happy Thanksgiving.

I’m pretty certain this is my Favorite Blog so far.. This is the Truth Mario I see so many Christians Praying for the Rapture to come and i just don’t understand it.. I can’t help but feel these times are the very thing God has fastened and conditioned me for and it is perhaps the most humbling experience i have had in my life.. But it is also an absolute honor. Maybe that’s wrong to some, I don’t know but i just sense that in the coming days he’s going to reveal his Glory in a big way… Regardless, what an incredible ride it has been and I for one am very grateful to witness it..

Mario and Michelle: I am very thankful for you, as vessels of God’s Word, bringing such hope and courage to us. Please continue to use this gift you have to reach thousands of others who need to know how to be courageous and to hunger and thirst after God’s Word. Blessings for a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

I can’t fully express the joy I feel in reading your post. Truth. Light. Hope. God, the only God. Commander of heaven’s armies has waited all time for this day to see Satan’s final defeat and restoration of all he’s created to its rightful place. Whole and clean before him.
As believers we too should long for that day. And should we be those to help usher it in behind heavens ranks, what a gift. Do I long to suffer? No. But I have experienced the Spirit’s ability to uphold in suffering over and over. God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ask or think. For such a time as this. When I become afraid I look at the sign in my wall. “I don’t need to fear. I was made for this. Joan of Arc ” and I remember my God. Thank you. Thank you for this article!

Thank you for your ministry! And thank you for opening your mouth when God says to and speaking out the hard truth and hope and encouragement. Thank you for standing with God and for obedience. I appreciate your ministry.

From one servant of God to another one of God’s servants, who I believe has heard from God to encourage and also challenge the body of Christ in this Endtime. We truly serve a God of Plan,Purpose, Design and objectivity. In this very hour God is speaking trough his servants to prepare not scare God’s people to march in victory. Like you said Bro.Murillo not just sing the song but truly march with healing and deliverance in there hands. God bless you and your family Bro.Murillo. We serve a God of miracles not a day of miracles.

Happy Thanksgiving to you & family, brother Mario.

Thank you for staying true to the course, I am always encouraged by your posts. I know It goes against the natural mind to be joyful and thankful at this time but when I think about how much He trusts us to be alive right now to help bring about His will on the earth as it is in heaven, I can’t help but feel that way.

It is darkest before the dawn. When the world gets darker and thick darkness her peoples, those in Christ shine brighter and brighter! when sin abounds, grace abound MORE! out of the fullness of Christ is grace upon grace! Moses’ glory faded and ended, but Christ’s greater Glory is now and is to come, and eternal, and he gives it to true believers so we can be one with the Father and the Son! “I am in the Father, and you in Me, and I in you” (John 14:20). The best is yet to come! the best is saved for last! the world serves the best wine first; Jesus serves the best wine last! new wine into new wineskins! When our eye is sound, our whole body is full of Light (Luke 11:33-36). We see clearly from heaven, from Victory, in Christ and Christ abiding in us! The glory of God is our light; the Lamb our lamp (Rev 21:23). Let Christ in you arise and shine! no darkness can overcome the True Light of Christ! (John 1) The True Light is already shining; the darkness passing away (1 John 2:8). “I am the Light of the world” ~Jesus. “You are the light of the world” ~Jesus. Christ Jesus was given ALL power and authority in heaven and on earth therefore the enemy has NONE! We take the authority Jesus has given us and NOTHING can hurt us and we tread on serpents and scorpions; we rejoice our names are written in heaven, and with Jesus we rejoice in the Holy Spirit (Luke 10:19–21)! The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit! “Awake O sleeper, and arise from dead and Christ will give you Light” Ephesians 5:14. “God has qualified you to share in the inheritance of Light. He has delivered you from the dominion of darkness and transferred you into the kingdom of the beloved Son” Colossians 1:12-13. Christ in you, the hope of glory! warn and teach every one to mature in Christ (Colossians 1:26-28).
I am thankful for the Blood of Jesus and the True Light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, the exact image and likeness of God our Father! “If you continue in My Word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free; My Word fills you and there is no place for the enemy or his thoughts and ways” John 8:31-37. Thank God for God! We overcome by the Blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony; not loving our lives unto death! We don’t fear those who can kill the body, for we have given our soul to Jesus. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My Word and believes him who sent Me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life” John 5:24. There is no death for those who have passed from death to life in Christ and Christ in you. No distrust! No wavering! No fear! No doubts! “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and never doubt, you will not only do what I do (curse evil and it withers and dies), but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” Matthew 21:21 “What you bind on earth is bound in heaven; what you loose on earth is loosed in heaven” We bind the evil agenda and loose the highest heaven’s godly agenda of God our Father and his Christ!
Abba Father, we ask for all the corruption, fraud, theft, killing, destroying, lies, manipulation, deception, control by fear and intimidation, demands, coercion, sorcery, pharmakeia, witchcraft, mind control, threats, bribery, and blackmail be exposed concerning the virus and the election. We ask that the Light of Truth expose all lies and corruption and reveal the Truth. Father, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven, now and is to come. God is Able. Nothing is too hard for God. No weapon formed against us will prosper; every lie refuted and confuted, in Jesus’ Blood and Name above every other name that can be named. God did not give us a spirit of fear or spirit of intimidation, but a Spirit of Power and of Love and of a Sound Mind of Christ! Nothing shall hurt or harm us (Revelation 9:4; Mark 16:16-19; Luke 10:19). The Word of God is Trustworthy, Faithful, True, and in righteousness makes war on evil; the King of kings and Lord of lords leads the holy angel armies, who hear, hearken, perform and manifest the Word that does not come back void, but fulfilling God’s Plans and Purposes for America. Amen. Hallelujah!

  86. Mary Darrell

In the book of Hebrews, it says about JESUS, our precious Savior: “Though He was a Son, yet He LEARNED OBEDIENCE through the things which He SUFFERED!” Suffering forces us to FAITH—and to growth and maturity in Him!!

18 years ago a miracle letter from prophecy scholar David Hocking arrived at my cell but it was for someone who had gone home and another race, a Mexican. GOD had told me to start writing a year before with 7 years left of a prison sentence. I was about to give up on writing until I opened that letter that said, “Here is what you asked for to write books”, with 7 pages on how to. GOD has allowed me to publish over 70 books since. As soon as the churches shut down I told the churches it was time to all gather at Planned Parenthood in Costa Mesa every Wednesday 8: 30 -10:30 to come against the evil tied to killing babies and using them for vaccines. We are also meeting on Sundays at N Beach in San Clemente for a church group of Patriots and misfits who know the church is falling away but we are not! Paul Oebel and Martina Bowersox are integral components and know you Pastor Mario. You can reach me at Glenn Langohr online if you can send some help to the Planned Parenthood ministry to show the persecuted Christians in Iran/China and elsewhere that there are some blood bought saints warring again evil in the USA. You can also send people in OC to the beach church. God bless you to keep being bold to wake up the falling away church.
