A TRUMP VICTORY IS NOT GUARANTEED

by | Feb 25, 2020 | Christianity Today | 34 comments

A Democrat can win the Presidency simply because you are assuming they can’t win. Trump can lose simply because you believe his victory is guaranteed.

Back in November of 2018 many voices were guaranteeing a Republican victory that would see a majority in the House of Representatives. We were hearing prophetic words. We were told that the momentum of Trump’s victory would ensure a Republican victory in the midterm elections. There was a giddy air of overconfidence, but I had a sinking feeling.

Here is what I wrote on October 30th  :“75% of pastors have not taken a stand in their pulpits on the midterm elections. Think of that.  With the highest stakes ever—and the Christian vote essential for victory—they have not talked about this election. It will take a miracle for Republicans to keep the House of Representatives.  It should never have come to this.  The Christian bloc should have won easily.  Tens of millions of Christians had the power to vote the Left out of office.”

Then I said this, “If Nancy Pelosi returns, as they predict she will, the Democrats will instantly seize the Russia investigation.  They will move to impeach Trump and will even go after Kavanaugh.  Expect a torrent of subpoenas and gridlock.”

I even posted this picture with the blog.

I took a lot of heat back then for going against the grain. But it was not hard to see the overconfidence. Back in 2018, we forgot several important factors and, apparently, we are forgetting those factors once again. Pastors are still not saying nearly enough from the pulpit. The church is too divided to properly rally for this election.

Factor number one: Bible illiteracy. American Christians simply do not know the Word of God. It has been absent from the pulpits of our most popular churches. We are paying a steep price for betraying the Holy Spirit in favor of human marketing. Prominent voices have been telling young preachers to avoid teaching the Biblical truths of one-man-one-woman marriage and the sanctity of human life.

You would be stunned if you knew how many Christians see nothing wrong with abortion, same sex marriage, or socialism. Many Christians have believed the lie that Jesus was a socialist!

This is why millions of people—who claimed to be Christians—voted for Democrats in the midterm elections. In some urban centers as many as 90% of so-called Christians voted for a Democrat, even though the platform of the Democrat Party embraces atheism and abortion.

The young people in our churches are the most deeply affected by ignorance of the Bible. Maybe it’s a lethal combination of wanting to be liked by their peers and the brutal ‘cancel-culture’ that is prevalent among youth, whereby anyone who disagrees with the Left is permanently boycotted.

Factor number two: Passive responses to prophecies. If you get angry because I call for unity and action, what does that say about you? What could possibly be wrong with sounding the alarm over church-wide apathy?  It says you are abusing the promise of God. Let me explain.

All prophecies require action. All words from God carry a counter-balancing act of obedience. Even the promise to “heal their land” contains several conditions: “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

When Daniel counted the years mentioned in the Book of Jeremiah, he saw it was time for Jeremiah’s prophecy to be fulfilled. Daniel knew that God would be faithful to His word, and that the children of Israel would be leaving their exile in Babylon and returning to their homes. His immediate reaction was to give up food, pray, and repent.

“In the first year of (the) reign (of Darius), I Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession…” (Daniel 9:2-4) Daniel understood that promises carry conditions.

So, what is the proper course of action right now?  Do not underestimate the power of Satan to use a Democrat to fool America right out of existence. Do not insult the miracle God has provided, by assuming that all Trump needs to do is bide his time and he will automatically win.

These blogs were never my idea! I am under an edict from God, and I have felt a spike in my urgency in just the last few hours. Some have accused me of always issuing warnings. But here is what Paul said, “Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:31)

We must repent of assuming we don’t have hard work ahead of us. We must repent of foolishly ignoring signs of coming deception and criminal acts against us from the Left. We must repent of preaching that does not marshal unity and resolve.

The infighting and opposing camps of the American body of Christ are a grave threat to freedom. Every pastor must roar from the pulpit and call on the millions of Americans to realize that this goes way beyond Donald Trump—that many Democrats, especially Bernie and his followers have demonstrated a willingness to start violent revolution. We must realize that in the face of their hatred and demonic agenda, we are simply not ready to take the appropriate action. We are in a spiritual war, facing a determined enemy, yet many believers are acting as if we cannot possibly lose. Some even criticize those who say it is possible for Trump to lose, as if that takes away from God’s promise. That’s crazy!

Of course we need to vote, but this goes much, much deeper. We need to hear from God and present to America a compelling case for our Constitution, the rule of law, and the tradition of Faith in Christ.

If you don’t know your Bible, it is no wonder you don’t know what to do. If you are assuming prophetic promises are fulfilled without good old fashioned hard work and boldness, you are wrong. Pray about it. And then obey the Holy Spirit. We must be united if we are to save this nation!

Heady thoughts disarm the vigilant. An unguarded strength is a double weakness. Prophecy is designed to motivate you into overdrive. Continue. Press In. Advance Forcefully.

So right: So ashamed of our full gosple preachers, Pentecostal, all the preachers AFRAID of preaching the full teachings of our Lord for fear of coming under attack of members who didn’t like being told the truth:
God’s against homosexuals, against abortions, so much!!

Oh Mario, I so agree! On 2-22-2020, at your post for that day, ‘Bernie Sanders is a Full Blown Hypocrite…’ a pro-Trump woman commented with a reply to your post that sounded too assured that Donald Trump would win. I sympathized with her zeal for him and agreed that he should win, however my response to her was this…
“Laura, though I agree PR-Trump should win in 2020, I would remind you that nothing is guaranteed in this life, not even tomorrow, according to, James 4:13-16.
When one reads brother James words in his epistle letter, from chapter 4, and when one is a devout and a true Believer in Christ Jesus and His Apostolic appointed men. Then it is just so clarion clear for us to remember that though we have a promise from God we can depend upon, nothing is guaranteed to us. Though we may devise a plan of action in this fallen world, we must co-operate with prophecy and move within its covenant power. For example:
I have been witnessed to through The Holy Spirit, that Donald Trump will win again in 2020, and this answer came out of an extensive amount of seeking the will of God with prayer. Yet, I am sure that it is the very Body of Christ itself that Christ will use to accomplish HIS ends. HE has been doing that for over 2000 years. As Jesus said, …”work while it is day, for night comes when no man can work”.
I can think of no other more invasively dark night for this America, then if Mr Bernie Sanders, a life long Socialist/Communist ends up winning & being in the highest office of this nation. That is acutely frightening beyond belief.?
    LISTEN Christians, to Mario’s words…
WORK Christians while it is still day…
VOTE Christians an all Republican ticket in November.

God does indeed offer us guarantees in this life and the life to come. He offered His one and only unique Son to be the Guarantee of the better everlasting covenant with an eternal oath. In fact God also gave his promise. So I now know I have a Double Guarantee: His Word and His Living Oath. Sure and Steadfast. The Immutable Counsel of Almighty God. Yea and Amen. Thanks Carolina

      • Carolina

I agree with your position on the heaven sent eternal guarantee, this is regarding that which no man can do or give but God in Christ alone, the gift of eternal redeeming salvation. Perfect!
My thoughts and replys were about the here and now moment on earth in a fallen world.
Many can say they are Christians but that does not mean that they actually are. Unfortunately in western civilization nations (including America) many believe that they are born a Christian just because they’re born in a certain region or because they have relatives that have been using that designation for generations. I’m not arguing with your response, am simply saying what Jesus expressed, “many will come to me in that day saying, Lord, Lord didn’t we”…then He tells them, “depart from Me I never knew you.” I’ve always enjoyed Solomons words, ” there’s a way to a man that seems right but the end thereof is death”. Thank you to megagenius, I enjoy your blogging replies.?

I feel the same uneasiness in my spirit. PRAY, saints!!!!

  5. NANI RODRIGUEZ

Truer words were never spoken. I have been been on a rampage at work, in public, on FB urging people to get out and vote. Even in the primaries. Here in TX one of the propositions that we are voting on is to keep parents of children from using hormone blocking drugs and castration to change the sex of a minor child. Another is to keep them from banning prayer in school. Who would have thought that in a red state like TX we would need to be addressing these issues. I like Fox News but they keep saying there is no way any of the left candidates can beat President Trump. Wake up people. We lost the house in midterms. We could lose the Oval if we don’t humble ourselves and pray for people to wake up and scales fall of their eyes to the left agenda. ???

    • Carolina

Amen Nani Rodriguez! I can hardly believe that in TX there would be such propositions involving children having to be voted on.? Castration to change the sex of a boy!… dear God what have we as a nation plummeted into! Thxs for the update.
Is it true that now there is a huge voting block in TX that is Socialistic? My husband heard this on the news that Bernie Sanders was doing very well there in the polls??
      Bless you…

  6. Deanie Cinnamon

I recently heard a message by a prominent mega church pastor in the central / eastern U.S. proclaiming “IT IS NOT OUR CHRISTIAN DUTY TO VOTE”!!! He did the same thing in 2016. In 2016, he actually encouraged his people that NOT voting was a choice blessed by heaven. His reported viewership / following is 45,000 +. I am praying now, as I did then, that for every voter that is swayed by voices like his [using God’s platform to teach against God’s truth] that God will flip his influence and raise up 5 voters that will offset every one who follow him. Lord have mercy!!!

    • megagenius

He does not belong in the pulpit. He is a LIAR and a COWARD.

    • Michael Worcester

Most megachurch pastors are part of the opposition. It’s called the 501c3. It’s a contract with the government where the church “stays in line” to keep tax deductibility. They are basically in a covenant with Baal. It’s easy to detect the effect. Loose grace preaching ( aka Joel Osteen ). Never preaching about sin or repentance, especially calling out obvious sins like FORNICATION, HOMOSEXUAL ACTS, ABORTION, DISRESPECTING PARENTS, GREED, PRIDE, etc. Never actually standing on the Word when it isn’t popular. Never saying anything political at all, even when there are obvious choices based on the Word. After all, wouldn’t want to offend anyone….. Seeking the approval of man, and trying to build up a temple of gold to themselves.

Not only should all pastors be preaching to VOTE, but VOTE BASED ON BIBLE PRINCIPLES, not the popular garbage like voting for a skin color ( OBAMA ), or a WOMAN because hey it’s time for a woman, etc. It’s blatantly obvious that no self-respecting Christian should EVER be voting for the Democrat party. Their platform is about abortion, socialism, removing prayer from school, LGBTQ, transgenderism, racism, etc. Any pastor telling you to vote Democrat is backslid and should not be followed. Any pastor telling you NOT to VOTE is equally backslid and encouraging apathy and stupidity. Any pastor urging you to vote for or against a candidate based on skin color is racist by definition. Just like salvation, there is a clear choice – accept Jesus or don’t. Not making a choice = going to hell. Not voting = letting your country go to hell.

  7. Tim Price

Brother you are exactly right! Real Christians need to go to the full realization that the current Democrat Party leadership wants Christianity Dead! They want the ability to do as they please regardless of what the Bible says! Trump has done more to support Christianity than any other president I can remember in my 60 years. No, he is not a perfect man. But at least he is supporting Christianity! Please remember that!

  8. Cheryl Johnston

I am so thankful for your blog. I have sensed that we need to intercede for America more now than the previous election. We cannot stand back and say Trump will win, no problem. We must pray the Word and pray the Word with a new zeal. Thank you for speaking truth. Praying for you!

  9. Sheri

Thank you, Mario, this is TRUTH!

    • Jaclyn M.

You are absolutely correct on everything. I do wish more pastors when speak on this critical time we face. I’m constantly under attack for being a Christian who supports and loves our president. I’m told I’m not a Christian. This is the new attack coming from the left.
I know it’s false but I’m scared other Christians will believe this. Keep up your great work in spreading the truth. God bless ?❤️

  10. Mark Stripling

Mario, my last two posts in response to your articles were blocked. Wondering if there is a reason for that.

  11. kingskid48

I was shocked a while back when one of our lead pastors stated in front of the church that he did not care who was president, he cared what God was doing. This is a smart, Spirit-filled man. Sadly, that was exactly what sleepy Christians wanted to hear. We all care what God is doing. But, to presume that He can, and will, do it all Himself,, without the Church doing constant, due diligence, and fighting this Spiritual Battle with all the Weapons of our Warfare, seems to be a dangerous stance for any of us, especially a pastor, to take. What got into him, I do not know. I am tempted to go visit several times at each of the churches in the community to see if they are all asleep like ours is. It is a wonderful church in many ways, but how long do we think we are going to have our freedoms continue with all our programs and outreaches in a Bernie Sanders controlled country? Or any of the loony democrat candidates, for that matter? He just happens to be the most obviously crazy and dangerous. Our Christian freedoms will disappear within a year under Bernie. His protestations that he does not like dictators and thugs, while praising what they do, should tell us all we need to know about this maniac. One “prophetic” message every couple of years where you read a few headlines and mention some of the bad things that are happening, then go back to every Sunday preaching variations of the same sermonette about how God wants us to achieve our “dream” in life…just simply is not preparing the people for what is coming. They will be taken unawares when disaster strikes this country, and it will, if any of these nuts takes the Presidency away from Trump. And while I’m on this rant, let me add that any pastor who cannot bring a Bible to preach from to the pulpit..seriously…your cell phone? It’s bad enough that less than half the people in the pews have a Bible with them. But the preacher, guest or not? I may sound critical, and I don’t mean to be. I call the good-and there is much, much of it, -with the not so good. And I’m nobody. But I do know what is going on, and I do know how the unsaved think, and I’m old enough to remember real Gospel, Good News, preaching, from the Bible, and being challenged to be involved, live pure lives, know what’s going on, and be aware of the times. They say the Bible is 1/3 Prophecy. Why are we not hearing it from the pulpits? Surely “achieving you goal in life” is not 75%.

    • Jaclyn M.

      100%
So much is at stake for Christianity and our country.
We are absolutely in spiritual warfare and Christians need to rise up.
If any of the radical left cannidates win our country will be gone as we know it. We must Unite as Christians and pray for our president to have victory.pray for president Trump’s protection and to rebuke the enemies plan. Democrats are pushing Islam across our country and trying to remove Christianity. We only have 8 months left till November. We must take a stand.vome together and pray for our country and our president.
After what we all have wittinessed from the left the last 4yrs.I will be voting Red across the board. They must be stopped. They have Divided our country, spewing hate and it’s spread across our country like a plague.their creating chaos and Destruction across our country. And not to even mention what their doing to our babies.even after the babies are fully grown and already born. Our children are now under attack by the left. Pushing Transgender on them at school,tv,social media, magazines, movies, bathrooms, sports, librarys reading time with drag queens. Putting liberals to teach the class and push their ideology on them.I pray and hope Christians will see the truth before it’s to late. So much is at stake?

  12. Michael DeWitt @ Grace Abounds

If You believe God put Trump in Office as an answer to Prayer, Then it stands to reason he has the power to remove him because of Apathy. The Lord says we must Seek his Face, That is an Invitation to know him better through his Word and Prayer, and to Serve His purpose for us, to trust him with every aspect of our lives so we can witness to His Glory!

    • mariomurilloministries

It does not stand to reason. Apathy is not from God, not ever and not in any form.

      • Mike DeWitt

        I meant Christian Apathy Mario.

        • Carolina

I would add to my statement Mr Dewitt, that there is no such possible thing as an apathetic Christian. Christ came to recreate us in His own image, therefore if we are a real Christian, we cannot hold or be,
apathetic: a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern: from Greek apatheia, from apathēs ‘without feeling’, from ‘without pathos’ which is suffering’.

          Complaisant yes, apathetic, no.

      • Carolina

        I am reminded of this parable of the talents our Lord Jesus recounted;
        (Matthew 25:24-30)
“And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, `Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground, *(apathy)*, See, you have what is yours”, *(more apathy)*.
“But his master answered and said to him, `You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. `Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. `Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.”For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. “Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Apathy– means, a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern: from Greek apatheia, from apathēs ‘without feeling’, from ‘without pathos’ which is suffering’.
It seems to me in order to “know” the Lord, one must clearly see Him as He is *MASTER* (ie: as in the parable) seeing HIM as One that despises apathy due to the nature of such a lazy condition. The Passion of Christ HimSelf on the cross was antithetical to apathy HE is a very Passionate, Enthusiatic Person! It stands with stark clarity that the apathetic person (according to this parable account) is given a permanent punishment for being apathetic. Instead of, or in place of, any grace allowance or teachable moment the Master could have used, He instead …”cast Him out into utter darkness”, another very enthusiastic action, and the suffering (or pathos) that The Master knew this person would go through was equally of great notable passion.

Hence Mario’s correct statement…”apathy is not from God”,…in any case apathy comes from those who do not know God and simply don’t care or are not concerned to. There are millions of us who do know God and do care, the opposite of apathy. And we count!

And I would add, if one truly wants to “Know Him (God) better”, then one better stay up late, arise very early, pray very hungry, stay very hungry, give very cheerfully & very often, suffer routinely, do without what you want indefinitely, stray from God’s path never, see to it no one else does either. Maybe, maybe, just maybe, you’ll be enabled to seek God Almighty’s face and get to “know Him” via an invitation, after you’ve been through enough pathos.
        Life is not a lark,
This next election isn’t one either,
God’s intersection with and use of humanity is always unfolding.

      • Mike DeWitt

Your Article is Spot on! It Reminds me of the Part Apathy of the Israelites played in the fall of the Northern and Southern Kingdoms as Described/Prophecied in the Book of Hosea.

      • Mike DeWitt

@ Carolina, Thanks but I would just like to add that in no way Does my Post infer that God is Apathetic.. Mario’s Article is a Warning against Man’s Apathy… It was Written in the context of what Mario Said and it is informed in the post in Question. God Bless.

      • Mike DeWitt

@ Carolina Yes and No… The Article wasn’t addressed to the World, it was addressed to the Church, If they were not Christians, Why write the Article at all? People don’t become Perfect Christian overnight, in fact they never do in this lifetime.. It is a Prossess that Begins with our Justification. Being Justified doesn’t mean you skip over Sanctification and are instantly Glorified.. We are all Clay in the Hands of our Father in Heaven, we are all in a process of becoming more Christ Like.. To Suggest you are not Christian because you have not reached a certain level of Spiritual Maturity is Dangerous and Not Scriptual. God Bless.

        • Carolina

Oh Mr Dewitt I respect your words and agree with much of what you wrote and honestly I’m not suggesting that we are not in process and progress of “becoming” Christ like. It is a hills and valleys journey within the soul. Admittedly I cannot stop viewing things from an evangelical prospective, I always consider that though we have discussions here on Mario’s blog as already saved people, that there are those who read these posts that have barely just tipped their tiny toe into the waters of salvation, grace and mercy but are not yet committed, they’re investigators.
As to Justification, and Sanctification those are theological doctrines that we might have slightly differing views about, nevertheless thank you for your replies and God bless.?

Agree completely. Sadly though, we have to realize that many church members are not Christians and this is not a Christian country anymore. We need to re-elect Trump , but we must trust that the Lord is in control of it all. Keep sharing the pure Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus everywhere you go!

Thank you for the encouraging and insightful words. Greatly appreciated.

  16. Jim Taylor

One of the best ways to get your support out, is not to convince them the election is a sure thing, but tell them it is unlikely they will win. Being lazy by nature, people will not bother to vote if they are CERTAIN their candidate is going to win. As for pastors being silent ……… the state of abortion in the nation is testimony to that trend. Preach inside their own little echo chambers………… sad.

  17. Glen Kippel

There seems to be a (false) teaching that, since we are in a spiritual war, all we have to do is pray. That is nonsense. It is true that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds” (2 Corinthians 10:4) We cannot overlook our spiritual weapons. But there are times when our weapons must also be persuasion, contributing time and/or money to political candidates that work to uphold godly values, and even, when necessary, kinetic weapons. During the American Revolution, the Minutemen wore insignias on their hats saying, “No King But Jesus.” And they also used their muskets. I pray it doesn’t come to that now. But the leftists are openly talking about armed rebellion and we cannot simply pray and hope for the best.

  18. Debbie Townsend

I believe we are at a especially one churches. That don’t preach the Gospel. It’s more like a gathering to make you feel good about self. Because words from the Bible preachers need to be bold and speak what God says. Not men. Also now
In politics it’s not against democrats and republicans. Like it was in the 60’s. We have to vote for God now. We are living in the last days and it’s against good and evil.
God will hold people who claim to be Christians need to take a stand for Our Almighty God!
