World Changing Faith

TO BEGIN WITH, I BELIEVE SOMEONE WILL READ THIS AND CHANGE THE WORLD-Mario Murillo

How did we lose world changing faith? We lost it because our culture disparages greatness, audacity, courage, originality, and heroism.  Our children are barraged with messages of defeat and limitations.  Worse yet, they are told that wanting to excel might hurt someone else’s feelings.

The curse of so many of today’s educators is that they have trained this generation to believe that they are to do just enough to get by.  Instead of going for brilliance and creativity, many are conditioned to harp, whine, and have a temper tantrum against the unfairness of the world.

“Besides,” their teachers say, “you can’t change the world.”  Teachers themselves believe this ideology makes the world safer.  Seneca had it right when he said, “It is not because the times are dangerous that men do not dare, it is because men do not dare that the times are dangerous.”

Small people with small minds mold the future.  You can be sure that if small men cast large shadows, it means the sun is about to set.  Is there anything we can do to push back the approaching darkness?  Where are the world-changers?

Tragically, the lie that you can’t change the world also permeates Christian Colleges.  Christian leaders are being trained not to offend. They are studying what to leave out of their preaching.  Their professors serve a smaller God than the One we used to hear about in church—the God of the Bible. They graduate with self doubt instead of world changing faith.

Billy Graham and Oral Roberts.  Astonishingly, some will not know the two men in the picture.  They changed the world.  Billy Graham preached to more people, face to face and on television, than any other man in history.  Oral Roberts brought divine healing to his generation.

How bad is our defeatism?  When Billy Graham died, some notable leaders called it “the end of God’s protection.”  Others said, “We will never see another one like him.”

I rebuke both of those statements.  And it is not just me. All of human history rebukes such pallid words—and nothing in the Bible supports them, either. Frankly, the doubting church doesn’t need another soothing sermon. It needs a swift kick!

The promises of God and the power of God to change the world are still in force. Billy Graham and Oral Roberts would be horrified to hear us either make monuments of them or call them relics of a past era.  Their testimony should be a catalyst for God to do it again!

This promise is not just for men either!  Joel: 2:28 says, “I will pour out of my Spirit on your sons and daughters and they will prophesy…”  And no one is too old…”your old men shall dream dreams.”

Are these times so evil that we can’t break the gravitational force of wickedness?  No one has the right to tell God what He can or cannot do.  There is no devil, demagogue, or disaster too big for God.

You could listen to doomsayers—those who morbidly hope for all hell to break loose—or you can seize the Word of God the way that Billy and Oral did.

Here are three timeless truths about world-changers:

1. World-changers appear when things look impossible. The same voices of doubt and despair were present at the dawn of Billy and Oral’s ministries.  There was no money available to them to do what they wanted to do.  There was no supporting faith surrounding their visions.  They were constantly being second guessed by those who were full of unbelief.

It was not until they cast themselves utterly on God that their breakthroughs came.

When Esther appeared, the Jews seemed hopelessly doomed.  Mordecai spoke these immortal words to her: “Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)

2. World-changers know when to go it alone. God kept telling Gideon to shrink his army—not enlarge it.   It was only after he won an astonishing victory that the other tribes found out and got offended. “Now the men of Ephraim said to him, ‘Why have you done this to us by not calling us when you went to fight with the Midianites?’ And they reprimanded him sharply.” (Judges 8:1)

The vision of the Lord is always too big for the church. True visions from God will always be too big for any one church or denomination.  Both Billy Graham and Oral Roberts had to follow God, and let the church come along later.  If you wait for approval, you will never begin to fulfill your vision.

Also, world-changers don’t mope when people won’t support them.  They know that if God is with them, who can be against them?

3. World-changers believe God can do it again.  While nostalgia makes some yearn for the good old days, and despair makes others invent impossibilities—world-changers say, “Why not now, why not here, and why not me?”

1 Samuel 14:6: “Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, ‘Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.’”

These two were in the grip of two explosive thoughts:  The testimony of what God has done in the past, and an inconsolable grief over the present evil condition of the world.  This dilemma placed a motivating burden on them, and caused them to cry out for a new move of God in history.

This was the incurable obsession that made Habakkuk cry out “O Lord, I have heard Your speech and I was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years!  In the midst of the years make Yourself known; In wrath remember mercy. (Habakkuk 3:2)

Someone will read this and change the world.  Was I being arrogant by giving my blog that title?  No. I believe the Holy Spirit told me to write this and I believe He will get it into the hands of a world-changer.  Why not you? Why not let God inflame you with world changing faith!

I love this man! He speaks the truth, he knows God. The church is so “gray” today, a watered down, pantywaist church is NOT what Jesus is coming back for.

      cindanighswonger, I do TOO!
Mario Murillo has spread a love of the Truth for the 36 years I’ve followed his ministry. Yea ???
Dr Oral Roberts and Dr Billy Graham were Truth spreaders also and I followed their lead as well. None of these 3 modern day disciples of Christ Jesus, ever gave into an easy breezy seeker friendly road.
That’s one way people can discern the difference between an authentic minister of The Gospel and those who aren’t.
If the world could not be changed by a change agent of God then John 3:16,17, would never have been written..
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
      Yea ???

Amen Mario! There is a remnant of the church that has no preconceived notions of what any particular denomination says is, or is not, possible. We read the Word of God and 100% believe it, outside of what may be said in the pulpit, on the internet or wherever. Some of the remnant reads your divinely inspired blogs not just once, but twice or even three times! We shut off our TVs long ago, and shun the worldly music that once was a major part of our lives. Our desire for worldly drink and entertainment has vanished. Each day with God’s help and your help we continue on our faithful walk with God, which of course takes us further away from the world’s twisted and self-centered ways. Many of us know what you are saying is completely true, even if we don’t fully understand it right away. So thank you for being a faithful encouragement for all of us!

Wow! That is definitely A WORD FROM THE LORD! It cuts through the attempts of the left to confuse like a sharp two edged sword! Thank you Jesus! “our culture disparages greatness, audacity, courage, originality, and heroism. Our children are barraged with messages of defeat and limitations. Worse yet, they are told that wanting to excel might hurt someone else’s feelings.” Could you imagine how people would rally around President Trump if he spoke words like this that expose the left for what they really are?

Dr. Lester Sumrall wrote a book many years ago Faith Can Change Your World. After reading your post it reminded me that each generation has Generals of the Faith. Faith did not pass away with them and we must not give in or stop speaking out for what is right and righteous. World Changing Faith a word from the Lord.

Mario could you explain or balance the notion some of weaker conscience might take away from this powerful statement.(This powerful Truth that God has obviously given to you)
Some people have a tendency to look for any reason they can find to dismiss the discipline of accountability within Gods order of structure in the church.
I have dealt with dilussional folks who split churches, rebel against God ordained leadership under the banner of individual vision only to watch the long term consequences of chaos and shipwrecked lives.
This request is out of a genuinely concerned motivation.
I consider you a hero in the faith.

Aaron, Just as a vessel of God must plow ahead with or without someone else, so they will seek out wise counsel there is safety (Proverbs 11:14.) Transparency and accountability provide forward progress. Those without it are taken out by the enemy.

      • Aaron

Thank you sir I could build a sermon on that reply.
Are you going to be in so cal any time this fall?

Almost every day I hear the Holy Spirit speak these words,”You are stronger than you know.”God created us for infinite possibilities, there are no limits in Him.

Thank you, Pastor Mario. I am praying that my granddaughter and grandson find who they are in Christ and become World Changers, and turn the world upside down for Him.

Thank you for sharing this encouraging prophetic message. I am sending it to my son. God Bless You ??

I believe this Mr Murillo.. I have been behind face book for a few years teaching and reaching with the truth. Many hear this truth and want more.. I have recently moved back to my Home town, In a church that just began a few months back. Its a smaller town with lots of people lost that once was on fire for God.. Now are lukewarm believing they can live and do what they want, because God loves them.. So I declare that I am here for such a time as this & that God will open that door He wants for me to walk through. The power of God is reaching by the Spirit as I pray for this Pastor & his wife, they have it. Now to reach the City with truth.. 2019 will be sure to bring the start of a Revival of People with change & passion for Christ truth.. Thanks for being one that sets the atmosphere up for all that God has said to come to pass. God said can I get one to say Restore? You are saying Restore by your messages.. I say Restore.. Glory

This is long, but worth chewing over:

“Jesus said whatever you do to the least of these my brothers you’ve done it to me. And this is what I’ve come to think. That if I want to identify fully with Jesus Christ, who I claim to be my Savior and Lord, the best way that I can do that is to identify with the poor. This I know will go against the teachings of all the popular evangelical preachers. But they’re just wrong. They’re not bad, they’re just wrong. Christianity is not about building an absolutely secure little niche in the world where you can live with your perfect little wife and your perfect little children in a beautiful little house where you have no gays or minority groups anywhere near you. Christianity is about learning to love like Jesus loved and Jesus loved the poor and Jesus loved the broken-hearted.” Rich Mullins

Let us love like Jesus – we have the mind of Christ!
