THEY ARE SAYING

Satan has seduced many believers into separating the Holy Spirit and the Bible—by pitting them against each other.  The Bible not only predicted this deception, it exposed the motive behind it.

2 Timothy 4:3 says “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers…”

What they can’t endure is the Bible.  They play the ‘God card’ in order to fulfill their lusts, and then blame the Holy Spirit.

Many parents have had the following experience: They tell one of their children, “Go tell your sister, ‘Daddy says it’s time for bed.’”  Before very long, your children will begin using those magic words, “Daddy says”—even when Daddy didn’t say. That is one of the dangers of not judging prophecy. It is easy to use the words, “God told me that!” when anyone wants to shut down any word of correction, or to justify questionable behavior.

The current practices among Christians of drinking, carousing, and blatant New Age preaching, did not creep into the church overnight.  It insinuated itself slowly, quietly, and under the cover of good intentions. It began in small doses.  One preacher said, “Why do we trust a Book they (the early church) didn’t have, more than the Spirit that they did have?”  Another preacher said, “We’re not supposed to worship a Book.”

They will tell you they trust in the voice of the Spirit more than a Book.  What they are really hearing is their own voice…or worse.  They don’t deny the inerrancy of Scripture; they simply claim that they are receiving direct revelation from God that is equal to the Bible.

Bible study has become passé.  Many seek constant prophetic words.  They trust these words without comparing them against Scripture.

The Holy Spirit has become on-demand.  You’ve all seen the Facebook ads where “prophets” will give you a daily ‘word from the Lord.’  Some even charge money to give you a prophetic word.

A young revivalist claimed to get more from “an angel” than from the Bible.  He even wrote on his website, “I have had experiences in the Spirit that cannot be explained by the Bible.”  Not long after this, he left his wife and children for his secretary.  He is still in ministry, and still defending his experience.

People blame all kinds of things on “leadings of the Holy Spirit.”

“The Spirit told me I can leave my husband and children because He wants me to be happy.”

“You may not like the way I dress, but the Holy Spirit does.”

One preacher even compared the Spirit to marijuana, and said, “I am toking the Ghost.”

The following conversation actually took place:

Him: “I am not just forgiven for the sins I have committed, I am also forgiven in advance for the ones I will commit.  Therefore, I never need to repent or confess my sin.”

Me: “That’s crazy, 1 John 1:8 says, ‘If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.’”

Him: “Oh, well, that wasn’t written to Christians.”

Me: “No Bible scholar believes that.  In any case, that means the Apostle John wasn’t a Christian, because he said ‘if we.’ Where did you get this idea?”

Him: “It was revealed to me by the Spirit.”

Addiction to alcohol, drugs, pornography, and a host of other vices, will overtake believers when the natural protection of the Bible is removed.  Psalm 119:11 says, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

Why am I condemning all of this?  Because the Bible commands me to do so: “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:2)

This heresy of tuning out the Bible, in order to hear the Spirit, has flooded the church with the most carnal and self-centered believers ever.  To reject the Bible, while seeking a word from God, is to toy with witchcraft.

The Holy Spirit and the Bible exist in unbreakable agreement.  The Spirit will take you to the Bible, and the Bible will take you to the Holy Spirit.

One of the prime purposes for Jesus sending the Holy Spirit was to help us understand and remember the Bible. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

You can be sure that if you are not regularly reading the Bible, God will avoid speaking to you through prophecy.  To neglect reading the Words of Life creates a dangerous habit.  Without a biblical foundation, you will have no way to judge prophetic words.

The superiority of the Bible over the prophetic is clearly shown by the fact that, although we are told to judge prophecy, we are never told to judge Scripture. Remember: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…”

(2 Timothy 3:16)

Daily Bible study is a hallmark of those who seek the Truth.  In Acts 17: 11 we find the story of a group of believers who were praised for their diligent Bible study: “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

True revival is always Bible based.  True preaching will always quote Scripture liberally.

We are at a crucial point in America.  If the Body of Christ doesn’t repent of this foolishness, our nation is sunk.  That is no longer the mindless wrangling of doomsday prophets—it is a clear reality.

However, there is great hope.  The combination of the Word of God confirmed and revealed by the Holy Spirit, will more than match today’s wickedness.

God knew that the insanity of today was coming. He took steps to prepare the hearts of a group of believers who would enter into a special relationship with Himself. He did so, in order to produce special powers for His children.

But, if even only a small remnant repents, gets back in the Word, and obeys the Holy Spirit, God will build an army that will prevail.  1 Samuel 14:6 gives us an example: “Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, ‘Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised (Philistines); it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.’”

Be a Berean! Study the Word of God, and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Become one of those ‘many or few’ who will bring this nation back to God!

I have, I think, a similar but different (if that makes sense)problem, in that, I have friends -at least the man, not sure about his wife-but the man is adamant against the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and even strongly doubts the Gift of Healing. I’ve overlooked some of the things he has said over the years for the sake of the friendship, just being thankful that they are saved. But recently, he lit into me about the Baptism, saying that it is just an emotional experience that makes some people feel better or happier, and they, “think” they received some sort of experience, so then they, “think” they immediately have the Gift of Healing, and why should God heal us when we all have to eventually die anyway, so what’s the use of Him healing us on this earth? It stunned me so much that there are still Christians who think this way about speaking in Tongues and about God supernaturally healing, that I have not answered his email and am considering breaking off the friendship. I felt it was an insult toward all of those who have received the Baptism, and an insult, really, to the Holy Spirit. Sometimes the time comes that we have to move on and after twenty years of friendship, I may be doing that. There is no way I will ever change this person’s mind.

    • Levi

Don’t break off the friendship friend! Jesus gave us the ministry of reconciliation, so we need to let Jesus tell us when to break off the friendship. (unless he’s already told you to of course!).

Continue to pray for him, for it’s not a battle of flesh and blood but of principalities. Jesus can show up in a dream, or maybe someone will heal his wife who knows. I believe people like this are put in our lives so that we can show them love and show them what we have witnessed from God. There will be persecution, the disciples considered themselves privileged to be persecuted for His sake!

In humility, cast all your anxieties unto him, for he cares for you. HS will give you peace and the words to say, as you strengthen your knowledge of the scriptures. 😀

A dire warning for the out of balance Spirit only (Word not required) bunch running rampant in many of our Charismatic/Pentecostal circles.

  4. Mark Stripling, Ransomed Ministries.

Mario, it is a frightening thing to observe what is happening in the church and in ministry today. A man whose ministry and books I hold in high esteem wrote something that I must question the validity of in this day and hour. He said that anyone who really wants to walk in a great anointing of the Holy Spirit for ministry must be a member of a local church and submit themselves to the authority of it’s pastor. He said no one will have a great anointing without doing those two things. I fully understand the logic, but I also have seen too many compromised pastors who no longer seek God and seek to be fully led by the Holy Spirit. Some have been wounded and treat others badly because of a bitter spirit. Some have been taken over by a dictatorial spirit, my way or the highway. Others are living in sin and no longer hear from the Holy Spirit, and they don’t care. Many are professional preachers in name only, who don’t even know Christ, proven by the fact that they embrace and celebrate the doctrines of demons. Young ministers question the “old paths.” Others, who were great men of God at one time, have become comfortable, financially secure, tenured, and no longer care about anything but getting paid, enjoying recreation, getting to scratch the itch to preach, looking forward to retirement, and not rocking the boat by stirring up any devils. Satan loves them. I am convinced that the moment a man enters full time ministry, that a spirit sent by Hell begins to make an attempt to influence their life and ministry, and many times they subtly succeed. I have spent 45 years in pastoral/evangelistic/denominational leadership ministry, (I am non-denominational now),and I am not happy looking back on many thing that I have done in retrospect. Sometimes I feel almost crushed by the weight what I see in the church today. What a responsibilty is upon pastors now, to be true, uncompromised, Men of God who seek with all of their life and breath to walk in the leading, anointing, power, and authority of the Holy Spirit. How else can they lead those who want to pay the price to walk in a great ministry anointing?

Mario Murillo, 1Sam. 14:6 is one of the coolest scriptures in the sense that Jonathan, on nothing more than “perhaps” the Lord will be with us…
It wasn’t a spoken promise of victory from God.
Perhaps! Now that’s faith, which God honored.
I love the plans you and Lance Wallnau together have made. Thanks very much!

In my estimation, the Body of Messiah needs to know Him. I am sorry to say that there is a great majority who do NOT KNOW YAHWEH, GOD, THE FATHER, THE SON OR THE HOLY SPIRIT.
For 37 years I have been walking with my Lord YESHUA, the Messiah of God, and throughout the years I have heard and seen pastors cataloguing the Old Testament as we call it, as outdated. Where is it in the Scriptures that the Word of God has an expiration date? YESHUA HIMSELF SAID:HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY, BUT MY WORD WILL NOT! One of YESHUA ‘s titles is THE WORD OF GOD, ACCORDING TO THE BOOK OF REVELATION. AND YESHUA HIMSELF SAID THAT HE HAD COME TO DO WHAT THE TORAH TEACHES, NOT TO ABOLISH IT. BUT THE THE WORD TORAH WAS TRANSLATED LAW, INSTEAD OF TEACHINGS, SO TORAH ACCORDING TO THE MAJORITY IN THE BODY OF MESSIAH, HAVE ABOLISHED IT BECAUSE IT IS THE LAW. IF YESHUA, THE SON OF GOD CAME TO DO WHAT THE TEACHINGS TELL US, AND WE ARE TO BE LIKE HIM, THEN WHY DO WE NOT DO WHAT HE DID?

Thank you Mary Jo Vergara. To ignore the Old Testament is a SHAME.. This is one of my favorite verses that encourages and the Many I shared God YHWH SABAOTH SIDKENU love for those who loves HIM
The love of the Lord never Ceases his Mercies never comes to an end they are NEW EVERY Morning Great is THY FAITHFULNESS O Lord Great is THY FAITHFULNESS

      Lamentations 3;22-23
There’s always great Nuggets of GOLD in our Great God YHWH SABAOTH SIDKENU aka JESUS CHRIST RIGHTEOUSNESS HOLY WORD

“Him: “I am not just forgiven for the sins I have committed, I am also forgiven in advance for the ones I will commit. Therefore, I never need to repent or confess my sin.”
Me: “That’s crazy, 1 John 1:8 says, ‘If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.’”
THIS WAS BEGINNING TO TAKE SHAPE AT A CHURCH MY HUSBAND AND I WERE ATTENDING IN WA. WHEN MY HUSBAND APPROACHED THE PASTOR ABOUT FALSE DOCTRINE, HE GOT VERY ANGRY & WE LEFT THAT CHURCH. (ONE OF THE CONGREGATION HAD WRITTEN A BOOK ABOUT “HYPER-GRACE”. WE DIDN’T BUY IT – OR BUY INTO IT!)

“This heresy of tuning out the Bible, in order to hear the Spirit, has flooded the church with the most carnal and self-centered believers ever. To reject the Bible, while seeking a word from God, is to toy with witchcraft.”
HOW CAN WE AS BELIEVERS “TEST THE SPIRITS” (1 JN 4:1) IF WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE WORD SAYS? I started speaking this back in 2014 – WE MUST READ THE WORD IN ORDER TO KNOW THE WORD (JESUS!)

“The Holy Spirit and the Bible exist in unbreakable agreement. The Spirit will take you to the Bible, and the Bible will take you to the Holy Spirit…You can be sure that if you are not regularly reading the Bible, God will avoid speaking to you through prophecy. To neglect reading the Words of Life creates a dangerous habit. Without a biblical foundation, you will have no way to judge prophetic words.”
    AMEN!

Remember: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…” (2 Timothy 3:16)
THIS IS WHY THEY DON’T LIKE IT! THEY DON’T LIKE TO BE CORRECTED OR REBUKED!

“If the Body of Christ doesn’t repent of this foolishness, our nation is sunk.”
I THINK WE, AS THE BODY OF CHRIST, HAVE A LOT OF REPENTING TO DO: FOR STAYING SILENT WHILE ABORTION WAS LEGALIZED, PRAYER WAS TAKEN OUT OF SCHOOLS, ETC.
“JUDGEMENT BEGINS AT THE HOUSE OF GOD; AND IF IT FIRST BEGINS AT US, WHAT WILL BE THE END OF THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL OF GOD?” (1 Pet 4:17)

THE BODY OF CHRIST IS TO BE *UNITED*, AS ONE VOICE, ONE SPIRIT, – ONE! WILL WE ALLOW DIVISION TO OVERTAKE AND WIN THE BATTLE? OR WILL WE PROSTRATE OURSELVES BEFORE OUR CREATOR AND REPENT, ASK FORGIVENESS FOR OUR PRIDE, OUR REBELLION, OUR COMPLACENCY, AND OUR APOSTACY?

HOW CAN THE WORLD BE DRAWN BY CHRIST IF WE ARE NOT LIFTING HIM UP, SHOWING HIS LOVE, AND BEING THE SPOTLESS BRIDE HE EXPECTS US TO BE?

GOD HELP US AND FORGIVE US OUR SINS!

      Hello, Reo,

I had almost word for word conversation with a Sunday School teacher in Custer. He said that what Jesus said was not intended for us, “Jesus was talking to those under the law. We are not under the law. We are under grace.” We left that church.

We were given a will to determine our course…

We were given a Mind to gather facts and details to assist our will to make sound decisions…

We were given emotions to respond to one another and the spiritual realm… But, the Heart of man is wicked and deceitful above all, Unless it is sanctified by the Logos! (Jesus’s word in John 17:17 which is carried on by Paul in 1 Thessalonians 2:13

The Holy Spirit will lead us into all Truth…

    Thy *WORD* is Truth… (Logos)

We are told to test the spirits to see if they are of Jehovah or not… Meaning there are many spirits in the spirit realm…

By what standard shall a spiritual thing be judged?

The Written Word of Jehovah. Intellect before Emotions!

There is a reason we are told to JUDGE Prophecy!

There are lying spirits among us whether they be man’s spirit or an unclean spirit!

  10. lisa fox

This is such a NOW word. I have seen these things from “prophets” all over my news feed. Alarming

  11. Greg Dean

Look the new birth places within us the holy spirit. It was what was lost in Adam’s sin. The holy spirit is manifested in nine ways. There are worship and pray (tongues, tongues with interpretation and prophecy), revelation (word of knowledge, word of wisdom and discerning of spirits) and of power (faith, miracles and gifts of healing).

G-D is not going to say anything that does not line up with what has already been given in the Torah, the prophets and other writings plus what is in the gospels and writings of Paul.

So what we have with these folks is more like what happened with the Qur’an or book of Mormon.

  12. Deanna

I agree with all, however, wasn’t the first part of John (1st J.) written to the Gnostics?

  13. Roger Culwell

Well said amen, The whole problem is they won’t hear the truth, and voices they hear are not the Holy Spirit but familiar spirit’s because the word is not applied and not screaned by the word of God, there are all kinds of lying memicing spirit’s, that jump to talk to the ones who do not read and apply the word to there life, there are some thing’s that have to go in our life, in order to obtain a right relationship with God, and any sign of rebellion give’s these spirit’s a foot hold, [ I said once when some one said I follow the spirit, when there life showed other wise, I said no doubt you follow a spirit, but which one, is my question] when it does not line up with the word, it’s not his Holy Spirit, there have been thing’s loosed in these last day’s far stronger than Christian’s have fought before, and most are still in diaper’s with a fooler, and this is a time for full grown warrior’s, stronger than ever before, [ the enemy will even do signs and wonders, so we have to be on our toes, against all this, he is perverting the word, and so many witches are in this modern day prophecy that it is crazy, we have the church now being run by these, and leaving the word out, we must wake up and be in the word like never before, some now just go with praise and worship, and not word, it takes both, the word cleans and strengthens you, worship get’s you in his presence, and also cleans things out if the word is there, they work together with the Holy Spirit convicting you of any sin you commit, so you can confess it, put it under the blood, we have a famine of the word today, and we can’t know God with out the word, the word is how I got to know God way before praise and worship, praise and worship took me in deeper in a personal relationship with him, but it took the word to get there, I first new him through the word, and then in praise and worship became real intimate with him, they stay in there sin and keep doing evil because they don’t know the word, for if you know the word you can’t back evil or sin, for one thing the Holy Spirit of God will not allow it, your familiar spirit will, but not Gods true Holy Spirit, we are living in the greatest day’s of evil since Noahs day’s, and the deception is greater than you can imagine, most of the Church is being controlled by Jezebel spirit’s and seducing spirit’s, and we must get closer to God than ever before and get his word in us, Just look around what’s on that Dem party has come in the church to destroy it to, when they pushed the Holy Spirit and Fire and the presence of God out, there goes discernment, and the spirit which expose’s the evil, ding, ding, ding, Alarm, other spirit’s moving in, we must return to God about 15 unfollowed me the othere day when I said, there trying to put there throne above Gods throne, building them a kingdom and not God’s, and that I was trying to build Gods kingdom, but yet I am now a Hitler, Stalin, a wizard, a homophobic, racist, why I preach the word and I will preach the word as long as he say’s, if I get down to 1 follower, we must get down to business with God, and get his power and presence back in the Church, and get down to Kingdom business, he gave me a word the other day for the remnant, [ “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Be strong and finish the task! Ever since the laying of the foundation of the Temple of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, you have heard what the prophets have been saying about completing the building.
    Zec 8:10
Before the work on the Temple began, there were no jobs and no money to hire people or animals. No traveler was safe from the enemy, for there were enemies on all sides. I had turned everyone against each other.
    Zec 8:11

“But now I will not treat the remnant of my people as I treated them before, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
    Zec 8:12
For I am planting seeds of peace and prosperity among you. The grapevines will be heavy with fruit. The earth will produce its crops, and the heavens will release the dew. Once more I will cause the remnant in Judah and Israel to inherit these blessings.] it is up to the remnant to pray fervently and call in to order the thing’s of God and stand a make a change, the passive will not do it, it will take the mighty Warrior’s of God to Change thing’s, march on mighty warrior’s, the Victory is our’s. [ oh about them Angels, there listening to, there fallen Angels, twisting the word of God, they also are in with the POB, working together to destroy the church, we are not playing tee-ball any more, this is the real deal, fallen Angels are in on this too.] Be Blessed

    Luke 13:22-25

Good word, The Bible is the Living Word of God, it is alive and active. It can speak directly to anyone, it reveals what God wants us to know in His timing, both corporately and individually.
    Heb 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. KJV
Many preachers need to study on “how to prepare a bible sermon” and began to weave scripture into what there saying, I say saying because what there doing isnt Preaching…

1 John 4:1-5 King James Version (KJV)

4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

So my question is this. How do we try the spirits to see if they are of God? What is our measuring stick? People may say they are spiritual, but my question to them is what kind of Spirit are they? Are they from God?

We so desperately need the anchor of the Word of God! Biblical knowledge is desperately needed for discernment and growth. The word was made flesh!

Do you want to know Jesus more? Then study the bible. You can’t separate The Holy Spirit from Gods Word. Try separating your thumb from your hand and see how well you can use it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This very thing has been grieving my husband and I. We’ve been hearing more and more fellow men and women of God fall prey to the seducing spirits of deception. When we say something against it we are ostracized, criticized, or directly rebuked. Because we aren’t on somebody’s platform just lay people serving and loving Jesus. It’s like such a blindness has fallen over them. They are believing anything and anyone and not the infallible Word of God! Then having the nerve to spill and endorse these false books and so called preachers. The Passion book is NOT a translation and for goodness sake the dude who wrote it says he got it from a visitation! And yet, preachers are touting and promoting the reading of it. No wonder organized church has become so weak. They don’t believe the Word and certainly aren’t listening to the One Who wrote it.

“To overcome temptation, believers are instructed on the importance of knowing the written Scriptures and quoting the Word of God as a “sword of the spirit” (Eph 6:17), using various passages as promises and assurances of victory in the time of spiritual, physical, or emotional conflict. We see this concept when Christ was tempted.” (P. Stone Bible commentary)

Mario, I am 100% behind you on exposing those who would undermine the Bible, so why do you do the same?

Just because you spoke with someone who was using poor eisegesis to explain 1 John, does not invalidate what John said. The ONLY people who are lying if they say they have no sin, are those who have not been cleansed (1 John 1:7-8). Obviously, if you have been cleansed from all sin, by the blood of Jesus, you are not lying, if you say you have no sin, you are lying if you say you do have sin. Those who confess (agree with God) that they have sin that needs to be cleansed (1 John 1:9), ARE cleansed from all unrighteousness, for only Christ is faithful and righteous to forgive us. His sacrifice was for all sin, of all men, of all time – it is finished. To say otherwise is to undermine the Bible, the gospel, and the Holy Spirit.

    • Michael Druckenmiller Sr

I hope I have misinterpreted your comments and you are not espousing Hypergrace?

Then we who have had a bath no longer need our feet to be washed by Jesus, nor does The writing in 1 John have any applicability, in any sense to the believer, even though it is clearly written to the church.

We live, walk and breath in a sin contaminated world and it is impossible to walk in such an environment without getting our feet dirty.

The problem we have with the word sin, is that we automatically attach it to a “sin unto death” or a pig returning to its wallowing in the mire.

One literal meaning of sin is “to miss the mark” that is, to not hit the bullseye, I dare say that there isn’t a human alive that consistently hits Jehovah’s Bullseye 100% of the time.

There are those who know better that sin intentionally… I don’t believe John is referring to them, although there are many things Jesus will forgive of the prodigal. Thankfully.

We must be careful not to place to heavy a hand on Hebrews 6, nor should we discount it either.
