President Trump: Utilize don’t idolize.

by | Jun 19, 2018 | Christianity Today | 20 comments

Immediately, Trump fans may be put off by the title.  I am not saying don’t love Donald Trump.  I love my brother.  I pray for him.  I am outraged by the vileness of the left toward—not just our president—but his wife and children.   We need to extend love and respect to the man.

When I say utilize, I am not speaking of Donald Trump the man—I am speaking of the presidency of Donald Trump.  I am talking about seizing this moment when power is being used for the good of the nation, and gives the church new freedom to preach the Gospel.

Utilize means: use, make use of, put to use, employ, avail oneself of, bring/press into service, bring into play, deploy, draw on, exploit, harness.  My question to the American church is simple: Are we utilizing his presidency?

The enemies of the church utilized Obama’s time in power to greatly expand their operations…and most notably, create a widespread cultural shaming of Christians.  Under Obama there was outright hostility toward the church’s freedom of speech and religion.  Schools shut down Christians groups.  Prayer was wiped out in many public events.  An amazing amount was done that goes against our basic beliefs.

Some believers dislike Trump because they believe he limits the Gospel.  In fact, the opposite may be true.  Military chaplains can again talk about Christ, Christian clubs can again meet on campus, permits for Christian events are easier to obtain, and even social media has begun to remove the muzzle on Christians.

The newfound hatred for the Gospel blossomed under Obama not Trump.  The railing you hearing right now is because the open season on the church is over.

But what are we as Christians doing with the fact that jobs are coming back—are we investing in soul winning?  Now that we have more freedom to witness are we reaching out?  Now that the oppressive restraints are being successfully challenged in court, and the tide is turning toward more religious freedom, are we harnessing the moment?

On the other hand, we must not idolize Trump.  He is not our provider—God is.  We cannot devolve into a cult following where Trump can do no wrong.  We can’t be entertained by his gotcha tweets (a personal weakness of mine) and bravado.  We have to see the big picture.  Respect him, admire him but never forget the urgency of the time.  You have work to do.

True prophets speak truth to power.  If our president reverses course and becomes an enemy of the Gospel I will openly oppose him.  How can I not?

At best, Trump will be in office another 7 years.  That’s not a long time.  In fact, it could only be 3 more years.  In that time, we must discredit the virus the nation contracted from God-hating leftist elites. If we do not, then brace yourself for the most vicious leftist backlash we have ever known.

The Christians who detest Trump and those who idolize him share this danger—missing the hour of our visitation.  You can miss it by being so prideful you can’t accept the fact that God is working through Trump.   Or, you can miss it by sitting around being enamored by his every move instead of getting to work.

You can sum up the books of Ezra and Nehemiah very simply: God has opened an amazing door to restore Israel but too many Israelites couldn’t see it.  Jesus said,  “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”-John 9:4.

Mario, please keep following the Holy Spirit in your writings to us…I am getting a blessing from reading them. Sometimes we need a “prodding” in order to speak our hearts and in this window of time we must “redeem the time” while we have the time. Thanks, and may the :ord continue to bless you? Brother Mario,
Again, you hit the nail squarely on the head. Unfortunately, there is GREAT division in the so called Christian ranks. I cannot begin to comprehend how Christians cannot see or refuse to see that this current President is fighting for our very existence.

That other guy (who started in 2008 and eagerly/relentlessly attacked us for 8 years) opened wide the demonic door in attempts obliterate Christianity. One of the 1st things he did was to attempt and destroy our military by allowing infiltration of an demonic entity that GOD called an “Abomination”. Surely President Trump is not a perfect man. We ALL have shortcomings. I’m nowhere near perfect…but I do love the LORD. It appears that President Trump loves GOD. He even allows and receives prayer from Christian ministers…that has to count for something, right?

That other guy kicked out or completely shut down Christian events as often as he could.

As a reminder, the following are just a few things which were ushered in between 2008 and 2016… (https://wallbuilders.com/americas-biblically-hostile-u-s-president/)

December 2009-Present – The annual White House Christmas cards, rather than focusing on Christmas or faith, instead highlight things such as the family dogs. And the White House Christmas tree ornaments include figures such as Mao Tse-Tung and a drag queen.
May 2016 – President Obama appoints a transgender to the Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships — an act of overt disdain and hostility toward traditional faith religions.
September 2015 – For White House and State Department dinners, the president deliberately invites guests that he knows will be offensive to the Pope and who openly opposed his message, but he and the State Department very carefully avoid inviting guests that oppose or would offended the dictators of countries such as Cuba and China.
June 2013 – The Obama Department of Justice defunds a Young Marines chapter in Louisiana because their oath mentioned God, and another youth program because it permits a voluntary student-led prayer.
February 2013 – The Obama Administration announces that the rights of religious conscience for individuals will not be protected under the Affordable Care Act.
January 2013 – Pastor Louie Giglio is pressured to remove himself from praying at the inauguration after it is discovered he once preached a sermon supporting the Biblical definition of marriage.
February 2012 – The Obama administration forgives student loans in exchange for public service, but announces it will no longer forgive student loans if the public service is related to religion.
January 2012 – The Obama administration argues that the First Amendment provides no protection for churches and synagogues in hiring their pastors and rabbis.
December 2011 – The Obama administration denigrates other countries’ religious beliefs as an obstacle to radical homosexual rights.
November 2011 – President Obama opposes inclusion of President Franklin Roosevelt’s famous D-Day Prayer in the WWII Memorial.
November 2011 – Unlike previous presidents, Obama studiously avoids any religious references in his Thanksgiving speech.
August 2011 – The Obama administration releases its new health care rules that override religious conscience protections for medical workers in the areas of abortion and contraception.
April 2011 – For the first time in American history, Obama urges passage of a non-discrimination law that does not contain hiring protections for religious groups, forcing religious organizations to hire according to federal mandates without regard to the dictates of their own faith, thus eliminating conscience protection in hiring.
February 2011 – Although he filled posts in the State Department, for more than two years Obama did not fill the post of religious freedom ambassador, an official that works against religious persecution across the world; he filled it only after heavy pressure from the public and from Congress.
January 2011 – After a federal law was passed to transfer a WWI Memorial in the Mojave Desert to private ownership, the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that the cross in the memorial could continue to stand, but the Obama administration refused to allow the land to be transferred as required by law, and refused to allow the cross to be re-erected as ordered by the Court.
November 2010 – Obama misquotes the National Motto, saying it is “E pluribus unum” rather than “In God We Trust” as established by federal law.
October 19, 2010 – Obama begins deliberately omitting the phrase about “the Creator” when quoting the Declaration of Independence – an omission he has made on no less than seven occasions.
May 2009 – Obama declines to host services for the National Prayer Day (a day established by federal law) at the White House.
April 2009 – When speaking at Georgetown University, Obama orders that a monogram symbolizing Jesus’ name be covered when he is making his speech.
April 2009 – In a deliberate act of disrespect, Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican; of course, the pro-life Vatican rejected all three.
February 2009 – Obama announces plans to revoke conscience protection for health workers who refuse to participate in medical activities that go against their beliefs, and fully implements the plan in February 2011.
April 2008 – Obama speaks disrespectfully of Christians, saying they “cling to guns or religion” and have an “antipathy to people who aren’t like them.”

Brother Mario, I encourage you to keep up the great work in exposing the devilish strategies against President Trump. I pray that the eyes of all Christians will be opened to the truth. AND yes! We are a Christian Nation!

Mario, your posts are spot on! As I read your posts I’m encouraged to keep pressing forward. Thank you for obeying the Holy Spirit!

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
57 But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].

    Thank you for this WORD

  6. kingskid48

I totally agree. On Sunday, our pastor did his entire sermon on being the church as we walk out the door, to the harvest field, on being constantly aware of those around us and ready and willing to ask anyone if there is something we can pray with them about. Not a word was said about politics, the administration or the President. It was about soul winning and meeting people where they are at.

    Insight from Mario Murillo

  8. free73735

Thank you Mr Murillo, for being willing to put in print, your insight! Too many in the “church @large” in the USA are still hostile as has been indicated. Unfortunately, if they don’t begin to wake up to what is going on, “they” will soon be discovering what the money changers went through, when Jesus arrived in the temple with a whip.

I heard a leftist say the other day: “Right now you are in power. But soon we will be back in power. And for those of you who are not with us now, those who are against us, we will punish you for what is happening and we will destroy you.” This is the satanic attitude of the left. They hate the church, and they plan to come for us when and if the political tides turn their way again.

    • Dorrie

Hopefully, if/when that day happens, Mark, and I believe it WILL happen, Yeshua will have already come for His Bride! And He will come VERY soon! Perhaps THIS Feast of Trumpets (God always does His work on His Feast days). If not this fall, then NEXT! We don’t know the day or hour, but we do know the season!

Many blessings – keep looking up!

Yes Mark…the left (those who are actually ‘now’ socialist or communist in their political ideology) are so incredibly entrenched in their own dogma that they are finally & at last intrinsically violent. Because of this desperate attitude they carry within their hate-filled bosoms, we who are in Christ, must be prepared for their absolute worst should Conservative values & men like PR-Donald Trump lose the day in Nov-2018 & 2020.
Yes Dorrie…The Lord will surely come, how soon is anyones best guess, but WOW don’t we all hope it would be today, tonight, or tomorrow?! It is good to never stop looking up.
Yes Mario…we must keep our eyes on the prize of the upward calling of Christ Jesus while making the most of the time because these days are truly evil. Poor PR- Trump, he’s gonna get it from all sides, in all ways, by so many people, that though he won the presidential race in 2016 it will end up making him scratch his head as to “why??” he ever took the job in the first place.

    • Dorrie

The oil in my lamp is kept full. And He WILL come at Feast of Trumpets. Like I previously said, we don’t know the day or hour, but we do know the Season/Feast – and we know that by studying His Word.

President Trump signed an executive order to keep families together, so NOW, the left is screeching that “immigrant families shouldn’t be detained”! We knew that would be next because they want open borders. They want One World Government!

      • Carolina

        Hmmm Dorrie, Chronos or Kairos…times & seasons…
In reference to your direct statement that Christ The King “WILL” come during the feast of Sukkot this year 2018 begins September 23, ends September 30.
I make it my Kingdom policy to recall what The Lord said to His original disciples/Apostles, since I figure to myself I am not “anywhere near” to as powerfully anointed as they were who received the initial Hands on assignment from God in the flesh.
He said to them, regarding Christ’s return & restoring Israel’s Kingdom, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1: 7, 8.
Then I take it a tad further in my zeal for Christ’s Resurrection/Rapture of the saints to also recall what Apostle Paul instructed the Galatians when they had gone astray and back to Judaism law works, Paul said, “But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and elemental principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you.” Galatians 4:8-10
Then I make another heart check always remembering Apostle Peter’s words as to the Lord’s coming…”Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: with The Lord one day is like 1000 years, and 1000 years like one day. The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you not wanting any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3: 8, 9.

        • Dorrie

I obey the Lord from His original Hebrew and Aramaic scriptures, not what has been translated from Hellenic Greek. After you have read it in it’s original language, get back to me 🙂

          • Carolina

            Dorrie,
This is from way back on June 21, when I responded to you then…Guess you missed it since I see you responded today?
            6-21-2018 I blogged to U…
How interesting, someone else beside myself with Hebrew lineage.
Indeed I too studied the texts but years ago in original Aramaic & late Classical Hebrew – really have enjoyed the Prophets Soncino collection how about you? found the New Testament fascinating in Aramaic, yet went back to Greek texts the last few years for a definitive look. I hope you & all Messianic’s are correct about King Yeshua coming during great ha-Hag this year, the original Apostles did not agree with that idea – on ‘that’ all new testament scriptures agree. But what’s important is that The King is coming… of course I’d be thrilled if HE’D come tonight!
            Shalom!

          • Dorrie

Yes, I sure did, sorry about that!

  11. John Garber

This helps us back to center!

    • Dorrie

But we DO know the Feast He will return on, because He told us. As a Messianic Jew, I study scripture in it’s original language, which makes a huge difference.

      Shalom!

You are right on track and I pray God’s people get the message and are stirred to action. God is shaking the nations and He is speaking to His people. This is an urgent time. God has given America a second chance and if we miss it we will miss an opportune time to evangelize and help to turn our country back to God. Evil is pressing in–in what seems to be a determined and last ditch effort to prevail in what could well be an end-times event. May we “have ears to hear and hearts to receive what the Spirit is saying.”
