The Price of God’s Miracle-Working Power

You want to see the lame walk—the blind see—and the deaf hear?  You want your days of powerless ministry to end?  You want to unlock the how and why God grants power to do mighty signs and wonders?  Do you wonder why so many have asked and so few have received the gift of healing and working of miracles?

It is time to peel back misconceptions.  It is time to be brutally honest.   We have been able to create mind-bending technological breakthroughs.  We can now do in an instant what previously took decades…but we will never find a shortcut to supernatural power.

The Holy Spirit’s work never changes.  His process of taking raw material and making a living breathing conduit of His power has never changed.  In 2,000 years, it has not been shortened or compromised one iota.

If you seek glamour and riches skip this message.  If you are dazzled by people you have seen powerfully used, save us both time—do not seek this power—you have no heart for it.

A young man—enthralled by the power he witnessed—ran up to Smith Wigglesworth and begged for the gift.  Smith said, “you don’t want it.  Before God is through with you, you will feel as if a thousand switch trains have run over you.”   Before God uses you greatly He will wound you deeply.

You still yearn to be used?  You still want power—real power and not the fluff of so many hyper-emotional meetings today?  Then proceed with caution.

The reason for our lack of power and miracles is plain—we are just not willing to pay the price.  If you are willing, the Holy Spirit will take you through the process to power.  Here then is the price of God’s miracle working power:

It all begins with self-emptying. Listen to E. M. Bounds: “The preacher must throw himself–with all the abandon of a perfect, self-emptying faith and a self-consuming zeal–into his work for the salvation of men.  The men who take hold of and shape a generation for God must be hearty, heroic, compassionate, and fearless martyrs.”

July 1975 — Kathryn Kuhlman on stage in probably the PNE Agrodome. One picture appeared in Aug 11, 1975 edition of People magazine

A.W. Tozer said they would, “serve God and mankind from motives too high to be understood by the rank and file of religious retainers who today shuttle in and out of the sanctuary.  They will make no decisions out of fear, take no course out of a desire to please, accept no service for financial considerations, perform no religious act out of mere custom; nor will they allow themselves to be influenced by the love of publicity or the desire for reputation.”

Oral Roberts despaired of life itself in his hunger to understand miracles.  He was pastoring without power when he went to Kansas City to hear William Branham.  That encounter with the supernatural was his line in the sand.  He went into fasting and prayer.  Oral went into the prayer closet and died.

In her desperation to understand the supernatural, Kathryn Kuhlman visited several healing meetings.  She often left disgusted and broken-hearted. Her tears and prayers reached critical mass and she made a holy vow to conduct meetings that were full of power and dignity.

She never looked back. Kathryn traced the moment of her power.  She said, “I died.”  From that moment on, there was no Kathryn Kuhlman, only an utterly devoted shell.

Compassion: Oral Roberts, T.L. Osborn, Charles S. Price and Aimee MacPherson all reported being overcome by compassion for the sick. Their level of caring rose to divine heights. They agonized for the lost, the sick, and the dying.  Matthew 14: 14 “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”  Such compassion cannot be faked.  It emanates from Christ Himself.

Hatred for sickness and evil: Few understand how the anointing is a product of hatred. Hebrews 1: 9 says: “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

Alexander Dowie saw miracles after a plague struck his church in Sydney Australia killing 40 of his members.  An inner rage transformed him until he called out to God with a pure heart and was rewarded with so much power that it left his entire congregation free of plague.

John G. Lake saw his wife die and it unlocked a fury against evil that swept the world with healing.

Power always has a purpose. Luke 4: 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

The most powerful part of those verses is this phrase: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because.”  Your “because” ruins you for all other plans, purposes, and goals.  You must surrender to the one thing you are assigned to do.  You must be able to list your purpose, articulate it simply and clearly and execute it with extreme focus.

Every vessel of God has one life message.  It is an outstanding theme of their life and a distillation of all that the Holy Spirit has ever had them say.  T.L. Osborn’s life reached millions and said something astonishing, and what it said is something that he never compromised or changed.

God is giving you power to do one special work.  You cannot deviate from that divine intention.  It will be a true work of God.

Wait. Acts 1: 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father…This is the key! Abraham could not wait.  King Saul could not wait.  Esau could not wait.

How long will you have to wait?  AS LONG AS IT TAKES.  All the powers of hell will challenge your decision to wait.  Satan has too much to lose if true healing power flows.  It will not come easily.  Your flesh will scream for release from your vigil.

Wait for true miracle power.  Do not settle for the life you had before this quest.  Your patience will be rewarded beyond measure.  He will come in power.  There will be no doubt.

I am waiting for the power of God to. He put in my heart and showed me a vision and I said Jesus in the spirit and he asked me do I have wanted it. I know in my heart what God called me to but showed me that he is controlled of my life. He had moved me in my car from one place to another place which was two kilometres away and said that he was In control of my life in control of my life. So now I been praying a lot in tongues and waiting.
I am from Australia the great land of the Holy Spirit.
I have been Supporting and following you through this election bsupporting and following you through this Election. God is with you.

That’s a good word, and it challenges me to go deeper. I prayed this word goes out to the world and reaches Hearts men that are starving for God. Not the power the most high will come upon them. And they will be anointed for the work of God.

Thank you. I pray that the body of Christ will be graced with this knowledge. We must die to our own purposes so that God’s will can be seen in this world.

I had a dream one night and somebody named “Murillo” was at the church announcing something. In the dream God said, ” I will let him get up here and announce this, but first I need to test and see if….” . The rest was basically had to do with heart testing.

The next night I went to church and Mario Murillo was there. I remember the sermon being about how “Daniel made an appointment” to speak with King Nebuchadnezzar, and a “Level 3 revival.”
I should have bought the tape. I can’t remember what a level 3 revival was, but I do remember God telling me that “there will still be a few who won’t come because of pride or whatever.”

That may have been 20 years ago now. I guess God is still doing his testing, but I know it is coming. I can’t remember the timeline of when you announced that, but I would speculate the reason for the delay is it has gotten a whole lot bigger. I Just thought I would share that with you.

My parents worked with Allen.shambach ,Roberts and Osborn. I saw blind eyes open ,legs grow out and a man read with his socket .and I know it might not be much of a miracle to some ,but we drove lots of times to revivals on empty .

This word has come at the right time when the Holy Spirit is longing for the body of Christ to return to its rightful place as the souls of God are waiting

This is a very good word. Mario and Smith W. are right on… “Before God is through with you, you will feel as if a thousand switch trains have run over you.”

Dear Mario – Spin the hands of time back to the mid-80’s and a church called Trinity Assembly of God in Lutherville, Md. You’d just finished up a 3 week series of revival meetings that witnessed hundreds of healings each and every night. I knew many of these people and testify to the reality of what God did there on those nights. Remember Warren Rogers? Closest thing to an Acts 2 experience I’ve ever been a part of before and since. I was just a college student at the time who was dating one of the pastor’s secretaries – we’ve been married for 30 years now 🙂 I was privileged to be able to take you out for dinner one evening to Little Italy in Baltimore with my future wife and a few of the pastors from the church. During the meal, I asked you the very question you addressed above . . . “why don’t we see more of the kind of miracles that had been occurring nightly during your meetings?” Your answer then was the same as above, “no one is willing to pay the price”. Thanks for bringing this message and reminder to us. God bless! David

Great stirring-up for the Church, Amen. We need to be in the place of being fully emptied out and fully in His glorious, wonder working power! That is our promise, but too few settle at Salvation, and not pursuing the call set other captives free.

I have been blessed by what our great spiritual fathers and mothers did through the power of the holy spirit.AMEN

  12. Bryon Moeller

It is a good word thank you for encouraging us to seek God and his fullness. I personally find in my own walk that as I see more of God’s miraculous, I am less concerned with the price I pay and more enamored, over taken and dwelling on the price he paid. Yes, when we truly empty ourselves, Jesus Christ truly is everything. By him for him and through him all things were made and through him all things hold together and he is the first born from the dead that in all things he might be preeminent. And it pleased all the fullness of God to dwell in him and you, we he reconciled in his own body through death even when we were hostile in mind and contrary to him through the forgiveness of sins by his blood. God’s church has miracles and healing, it shouldn’t be spuratic but normal expecting the sick to be healed in every service. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues. – 1 Corinthians 12:28. We need to set aside our agenda and die that the life of God would be manifest in and through us allowing God’s church to be manifest with healing and miracles. A crossless Gospel produces crossless churchianity not to confused with Christianity living and breathing in God.

  13. willesvedberg

Thank you for being so honest and not just preaching about the blessings of God. This is truly some of the keys behind the great revival anoining which is so rare today.

  14. Sister Sonshine

Hi Mario! It’s Sister Sonshine! We have met lots of times in the way past at The Dream Center, and also when you used to hold meetings in Los Angeles and I prayed with you and your son. Yes we have to wait and surrender to His love and power…Amen! What is it that someone seeking God would have the sole of his feet feel both pinched and also like they’re on fire? Any clue? Blessings….Amen!

  16. Tim Hall

Oh God let me die that I might see the works of God. Kill my flesh give me greater hungrr

  17. Charles Pallaghy

Thank you. Yes Lord, but in weakness let us also be bold and be open to God’s unfolding of the truth according to the whole of His word the closer we approach the end. Let us remember that the 12 did not choose Him, He chose them despite their shortcomings. As a matter of fact, the scripture records that not even just Jesus chose them. Jesus confessed that they were given to Him by the Father, even the rascal Judas Iscariot. The Father saw the potential in the hearts of the 11, and also the potential in the heart of Judas. I have kept a cartoon given me by a pastor; Much of what we want comes from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but life comes through Jesus Christ. And that life can only come as we die to ourselves. The Lord gave me a vision that both the Father and Jesus chooses today. He sealed me into a coffin where I could not move – that is my altar and my living sacrifice. But my mouth was to open occasionally with words that are to ascend like a sweet incense to God and to man. We are caught up in the river of God, not in water up to my ankles nor to my knees, but with no foothold at all, and its just sweeping us wherever the Spirit flows. He is concerned with the Body of Christ not just with me as an individual. How it manifests in each individual and will be granted to the Body of Christ is up to God – gifts, how many gifts, fruits of the Spirit, true doctrine, which facet of true doctrine is given?? Who knows? Only the Spirit of God can know. We may even feel worthless, but it is up to God to establish us – we can’t. God has a plan for every individual. The wheels of God turn slowly because everything else in our sphere of influence will have to be just right for whatever He wants to manifest. We have to learn to wait even as your article exhorts. Timing is critical. It is a work in progress that I believe others are also going through. May the Lord have His way. There will be a time of great joy, but I also have suffered much for many years https://youtu.be/D5iqPDEdg7Y ‘We have this treasure in earthen vessels’. This word leaves me quiet, it leaves me feeling helpless, it leaves me filled with fresh desire and hunger….not to be a healer or a miracle worker but to be completely free from my fallen ego. Then I know what follows will be my hearts desire as it is joined with His hearts desire. And I also know it will release power.

  19. Jeff Hightower

Revival of Holiness. Revival of God’s power. Revival of deep conviction. Revival of 2Cor. 5:17 becoming a reality in each and every new born again person. Revival of church discipline. Revival of true discipleship. Revival that burns so deep we love the Cross of Christ. Help Lord Jesus.

Blessings from Germany! Thank you for writing this article. It encouraged me to not loose patience and wait on the Lord until HE says NOW is the time.

Excellent message and word. Lord, Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May those who You’ve ‘killed’ and made dust be put back together with Your living water to glorify You in the earth by co-laboring with You as You lead. To heal the save the lost, sick, to raise the dead, and point to Jesus as THE way to a dying and wicked world.

  22. Linda

Wait……a word to encourage me. I cannot express what I am going thru. Mostly tears and cannot anymore say anything unless it’s Him.

here’s a reply from The Netherlands. Some of your articles are about the situation in America and the church in the U.S. For our country it is about the same. This article stirs my heart/soul and I’m longing for more and more. Thanks for speaking out, for speaking the truth; it’s the only way. With our prayergroup we often prayed and still pray: wake up you sleeper, wake up you sleeping beauty. We’re living in a time, we’re living on the brink of revival here and we call for the church to wake up and take her place as the warrior-bride and for every follower of Jesus to get right with God so that He can release His full power and anointing. Or like one of the leaders in Wales once said: “are my hands clean and is my heart pure?” Thnx for your articles and your surrender to the Holy Spirit.

No amount of accountability or structure can stop
failure if a heart is impure.
“Above all else, guard your heart.” (Proverbs 4:23)

Avoid any hint of temptation. Look for the warning
signs your heart is drifting. Allow others the freedom

than anything, keep your heart saturated with God’s
    Word and in prayer.
